How to Apply?
1.NOMINATION
You must be nominated by your home institution for the Erasmus exchange with the UCV.
1.1. NEW NOMINATION DEADLINES:
- 10th August for students nominated for the first semester or full academic year
- 30th November for students nominated for the second semester
2.APPLICATION
2.1. NEW APPLICATION DEADLINES:
- 10th September for students applying for the first semester or full academic year
- 31st December for students applying for the second semester
NEW ON-CAMPUS ACCOMMODATION DEADLINE:
Students who wish to apply for accommodation in the university hostels must send their Hostel Reservation Form (see bottom of the page), duly filled in and signed, to Mrs Anca Gabriela NICOLAE (MIC), mic.gabriela.anca@gmail.com by:
- 20th June for students applying for the first semester or full academic year
- 20th December for students applying for the second semester
2.2. APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
You must send the following documents to UCV:

- Copy of your Learning Agreement for Traineeships
- Copy of the Transcript of Records of the courses completed at the home university.
- Copy of your ID Card/ Passport
- Copy of your Birth Certificate (or any other official document mentioning your parents' names - no need to send this document if the information is included in your ID Card)
- For students from Non-EU countries (i.e. Turkey): a medical certificate issued by a medical clinic stating that they are clinically healthy (and do not suffer from any chronic disease) and which shall also include a list of their vaccinations (this is necessary in order to apply for the residence permit).The document must be translated into English.
These documents will be sent scanned, by e-mail, to the Department of International Relations at the following address:

ACCEPTANCE
UCV will inform you of its decision as soon as possible after receiving your application. The confirmation of acceptance will be sent by the Department of International Relations of UCV both to your university and to you, by mail. If you have been accepted at the University of Craiova, fill in and send by mail to the Department of International Relations the following documents by the 15th of June (for the first semester or full academic year)/by the 20th of December (for the second semester):
Visa/Residence permit
The host faculty will guide the students from non-EU countries in order to get a Residence permit.
The student will contact the Romanian Embassy in his country in order to obtain information regarding the documents required for the visa. The officer with responsibility for international incoming students at UCV will deliver the student’s Letter of invitation for the visa, provided that the student has send his application file and that his mobility has been approved by his corresponding faculty/ department at UCV.
The Department of International Relations will guide the students from non-EU countries in order to get a Residence permit.
The documents required by the Police Department for the Residence Permit are:
- Copy of Passport (including the visa and the pages with the dates of entry on/ exit from Romanian territory);
- Copy of Lease contract between the student and the university hostel or owner of a private building/ apartment, upon arrival in Craiova;
*These two documents (Passport and Lease Contract) shall also be shown by the students in original when submitting their application to the Police Department.
- Medical certificate
- Student certificate (delivered by the Department of International Relations);
- Copy of the Learning Agreement for Studies/ Traineeships, duly signed and sealed by both universities;
- Copy of Travel Health Insurance;
Upon Arrival
First arrangements
- Contact the Department of International Relations for assistance with accommodation and details on the university and the city. The officer with responsibility for international incoming students will provide assistance with your enrolment, information on Romanian language courses and other aspects of your stay here.
Report to the Department of International Relations with the following original documents:

- European Health Card/ Travel Health Insurance (for students from Non-EU countries)
Contact the International Relations Coordinator of the corresponding faculty (you should make an appointment in due time)
A copy of the Travel Health Insurance is requested by the university to students from Non-EU countries so that they can obtain their residence permit, if their Erasmus+ mobility at UCV lasts more than 3 months (90 days). The Travel Health Insurance submitted by the student to the Romanian Embassy in his country in order to obtain the visa is accepted.
Accomodation
Erasmus incoming students have two options of accommodation: staying at the university residence or seeking alternative accommodation upon arrival.
Student Hostel Accommodation
Erasmus incomers may reserve a place at the university residence through the Hostel reservation form, filled in and sent to the Department of International Relations prior to arrival (check deadlines above, under section 2. Application).
Every room will accommodate at least 2 students. The rooms available are comfortable and offer free internet access (LAN) and cable TV, refrigerator and TV set.
There is also a kitchen and a reading room on every floor, a social hall and a laundry in each hostel.
Attention: Bedclothes, towels and kitchen utensils are not supplied.
Rooms can be rented at a reasonable price: around 600 RON/month/student (utilities included). The accommodation fee shall be paid per calendar month (i.e. if arrival date is mid-March, students shall pay the accommodation fee for the entire month of March; if departure date is mid-June, students shall pay the accommodation fee for the entire month of June).
Students must pay a 40 lei fee upon their accommodation in the hostel. This fee covers any incidents that occur in the hostel and whose author is unknown (according to Article 8, paragraph 31 of the Lease Contract).

Rented Accommodation
Rented flats are an alternative for incoming students seeking high quality accommodation, comfort and privacy. Students must make their own reservation.
The price is approximately 200 EUR per person (2 persons allowed) for a furnished flat with gas heating, located near the city centre and/or the faculty buildings of the University.
At the end of the stay
At the end of the stay, students should request the Certificate of departure, duly signed and sealed by the
by the University, from the officer with responsibility for international incoming students.
The Department of International Relations of UCV will send the transcript of records in original to the student’s home university, by regular mail. Exchange students may apply for an extension of the exchange period. For further information, please contact the Department of International Relations of UCV.
Language Support
The University of Craiova provides incoming students with free-of-charge Romanian language courses, taught by permanent staff of the Department of Applied Modern Languages. Upon the completion of these courses, students can either receive a certificate of attendance or a grade (5 ECTS). Moreover, incoming students are provided with language support for administrative procedures, where required. The development of their Romanian language skills is also encouraged by means of other academic activities.
