ROMANIAN LANGUAGE PREPARATORY YEAR

2022-2023

 

The Romanian Language Preparatory Year is addressed to foreign citizens who wish to undertake a study programme taught in Romanian and do not hold a Romanian Language Proficiency Certificate or do not have a minimum B1 level of linguistic proficiency in Romanian.

Candidates who are not able to submit any proof related to their Romanian language proficiency will be automatically enrolled in the Romanian Language Preparatory Year.

The Romanian Language Preparatory Year for undergraduate/master/doctoral studies is a one-academic year (10 months), full-time programme, split in 2 semesters.

Candidates shall apply through the EvStud online platform, where they must fill in all the fields with the requested information and upload all of the registration documents mentioned below.

Candidates shall take full responsibility for the authenticity and correspondence of the submitted copies of digital/scanned documents with the original ones.

 

CALENDAR (applying for a Letter of Acceptance for Studies)

Application submission

1st application session: March 15-May 15, 2022

2nd application session: June 1-July 25, 2022

 

Preliminary results shall be published on:

1st application session: May 16, 2022

2nd application session: July 27, 2022

 

Study Place Confirmation - All candidates included on the list of preliminary results must upload Annex 7 - Confirmation Form (for candidates originating in non-EU countries) on the platform, as follows:

1st application session: May 17-19, 2022

2nd application session: July 28-31, 2022

 

Final results shall be published on:

1st application session: May 20, 2022

2nd application session: August 1, 2022

 

Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree 


ROMANIAN ETHNICS/ EU CITIZENS/ NON-EU CITIZENS

Application documents:

  • birth certificate – certified copy or certified translation by a notary public (in Romanian, English or French, if the original was not issued in one of these languages);
  • passport copy – valid for at least 6 months after the date of issue of the Letter of Acceptance;
  • copy of the document certifying the permanent residency abroad;
  • marriage certificate, if applicable (to prove the name change), certified copy or certified translation by a notary public (in Romanian, English or French, if the original was not issued in one of these languages);
  • application form, duly filled in and signed (Annex 2 – to be submitted only by Romanian ethnics and EU citizens), which must include a recent photo of the candidate (to be filled in capital letters);
  • application form, duly filled in and signed (Annex 2B – to be submitted only by non-EU citizens), which must include a recent photo of the candidate (to be filled in capital letters);
  • declaration of affiliation to the Romanian cultural identity (to be submitted only by Romanian ethnics);
  • high-school  graduation  diploma  or equivalent thereof  –  certified  copy  of the document in the language in which it was issued and certified translation by a notary public (in Romanian, English or French, if the original was not issued in one of these languages) - the documents are to be authenticated by the competent authorities in the issuing country;
  • Bachelor’s Degree diploma  or equivalent thereof (only for Master’s Degree candidates) – certified copy of the document in the language in which it was issued and certified translation by a notary public (in Romanian, English or French, if the original not issued in one of these languages) - the documents are to be authenticated by the competent authorities in the issuing country;
  • transcript(s) of  records  for  previous  studies  –  certified  copy or  certified translation by a notary public (in Romanian, English or French, if the original was not issued in one of these languages) and the syllabus for candidates who request validation of the studies attended for certain periods of time - the documents are to be authenticated by the competent authorities in the issuing country;
  • medical certificate (in Romanian, English or French), stating that the applicant does not suffer from any contagious disease or illness which is not compatible with the future profession;
  • receipt/proof of payment of the file processing fee (to be submitted only by EU and non-EU citizens).

 

Doctoral Studies

Application documents:

  • birth certificate – certified copy or certified translation by a notary public (in Romanian, English or French, if the original was not issued in one of these languages);
  • passport copy – valid for at least 6 months after the date of issue of the Letter of Acceptance;
  • copy of the document certifying the permanent residency abroad;
  • marriage certificate, if applicable (to prove the name change), certified copy or certified translation by a notary public (in Romanian, English or French, if the original was not issued in one of these languages);
  • application form for PhD studies, duly filled in and signed (Annex 5 – to be submitted only by Romanian ethnics and EU citizens), which must include a recent photo of the candidate (to be filled in capital letters);
  • application form, duly filled in and signed (Annex 2B – to be submitted only by non-EU citizens), which must include a recent photo of the candidate (to be filled in capital letters);
  • high-school  graduation  diploma  or equivalent thereof  –  certified  copy  of the document in the language in which it was issued and certified translation by a notary public (in Romanian, English or French, if the original was not issued in one of these languages) - the documents are to be authenticated by the competent authorities in the issuing country;

ENROLMENT

In order to be enrolled at the University of Craiova, candidates must submit, in original:

- all documents included in the application file;

- their Letter of Acceptance for studies;

- copy of their passport and a study visa;

- two 3/4 photos.

 

Candidates must submit their study documents in original upon being authenticated by the authorities in the issuing country, as follows:

  1. The original study documents which are issued by states that are part of the Hague Convention shall bear the Hague Apostille of the competent authorities in the issuing country.
  2. The original study documents which are issued by states that are part of the Hague Convention shall be legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the issuing country and by the Embassy/Consulate Office of Romania to the issuing country.

The deadline for enrolment of non-EU citizens at the University of Craiova is December 15, 2022.

 

VISA

Upon receiving their Letter of Acceptance from the Ministry, non-EU applicants must contact the closest Romanian authority and search for information concerning the study visa application.

This is a personal matter in which the university does not interfere. In case the visa application includes some documents issued by the university, the candidate must contact the university and request for those documents to be issued specifically.
