8th EDEN Research Workshop (EDENRW8)

Oxford 2014  - Call for Contributions

EDEN and The Open University, UK are pleased to invite all interested researchers, scholars, PhD students and professionals to the 8th EDEN Research Workshop (EDENRW8) to be held in Oxford, on 27-28 October 2014 ('zero day' 26 October).

The focus of the event is on quality research discussed in unusual workshop setting with informal and intimate surroundings. The session formats will promote collaboration opportunities, including: parallel ‘research-speed-dating’ papers, team symposia sessions, workshops and demonstrations.

Oxford Debate

Within the theme strand with a focus on 'open', there will be an event held as an "Oxford styled debate" on the uptake and impact of OER, with the participation of the ICDE UNESCO chairs.

Call for contributions

Submissions that relate to the Workshop Scope and one or more of the Workshop Themes are welcome in papers, workshops/symposia, posters and demonstrations.

The selected best papers will be invited to be published in a joint special issue of European Journal of Open, Distance and E-Learning (EURODL) and Open Learning.

Submissions will be double peer reviewed by the Conference Committee. Accepted contributions will be published in the online Conference Proceedings with ISBN and their summary in the printed Book of Abstracts.

Social Events

The Welcome Reception will take place on 26 October in the Sheldonian Theatre, one of the architectural jewels of Oxford. This event helps you to set the mood for EDENRW8. The EDEN Fellow Award will be presented at this occasion.

EDEN Fellows Walk and Talk: Before the Welcome, a number of Fellows will walk on the hotel gardens or in another Oxford location and discuss digital education futures.

The Conference Dinner on 27 October will be organised in the Cardinal Restaurant of the Oxford Spires Four Pillars Hotel. The EDEN Best Research Paper Award will be presented at the event.
